Google Desktop discontinued - here's my workaround

I have two versions of the Google Desktop setup.exe file. I found that my gadgets are still on my computer under username>my documents>my google gadgets. Install the GDT, then go to username>my documents>my google gadgets and double click on the gadget you wish to add. It may open up on the desktop instead of the sidebar. If so, just drag over or change the setting to 'dock to sidebar'. Fixed. Now I have my Google Desktop, my gadgets and my search box back. YAY! email nano856 at gmail dot com and I will send you the file you need. I have GoogleDesktopSetup09062010 and GoogleDesktopSetup 12092011. The install comes with a few gadgets. I also have the Calendar gadget and the Docs gadget I will send.
